I hope you and your families are well. It has been a strange few months but even with the struggles that we are facing, I am looking forward to us getting back together again. The renovations on the hut are complete and it is officially open for use once again! We will be having one regular meeting in June. This meeting will be held on June 18. Larry Brown has graciously offered to cook for us and since it is our first meeting back, he will be doing beef tenderloins! We would like to have a head count of who all will be attending this meeting so as not to overbuy and waste food. Please reach out to Larry or me and let us know if you will be in attendance.
There will be some changes that need to be implemented for the foreseeable future with regard to foodservice and the bar. We will not be going through the line and serving ourselves. Each cooking team will need to plate the food and give the plate to the member at the end of the line. Members will still have their choice of what they do and do not want but in order to ensure everyone’s health and safety, this is the best choice for the time being. We will need to eliminate the bar snacks for now as well. Also, with regard to the bar, Tara needs to be the only person touching anything on or behind the bar. I know on many occasions, I have grabbed a beer out of the cooler so I wouldn’t bother her but, for now, we can’t allow that to occur. I have consulted with several folks in the foodservice industry and these are the guidelines that they suggested.
We will be having a board meeting on June 11 so that we can catch up on club business and nominate officers. It is my hope that the officer candidate names can be given at the regular meeting on the 18th.
I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to serve as your President this year and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Thank you all for continuing to support the club during this difficult time. I know that we will get back to normal soon. If there are any of you that do not feel comfortable returning to meetings just yet, please know that we want you to be there but we completely understand. Your health is what is most important. We look forward to seeing you when you are ready to return. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns regarding our return to meetings. See y’all on the 18th!!

We have recently learned that Nick Wilson’s father passed away yesterday. We would like to send our deepest condolences to Nick and his family. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 25th from 11am to 1pm at Sharon Baptist Church. The address is 6262 Cobbham Rd Appling, Ga 30802. A private service will be held after. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

As some of you may know, Al Parrott was recently released from the hospital and is currently on hospice. Al’s birthday is upon us and we were wanting to do something special for him. We would like to hold a “birthday parade” in his honor, this Saturday, April 25th. We are asking all available members to meet at Sportsman Corner at 11:30am. Al lives off of Briggs Rd. close by. Feel free to decorate your vehicles or simply make a sign wishing him a Happy Birthday. We have arranged the surprise with his family and Al will be sitting outside in his wheelchair when we drive by. Unfortunately, we have been told he may not have much more time on this Earth and we want to send our love to him.
