Is anyone interested in going to the annual Sertoma Convention in St. Louis, Mo. April 21-23?  I have been to the annual convention and it is enjoyable and educational. It is good to see how the other clubs do things.  We are one of the largest clubs in the world and it is good to see other folks and let other folks see us.

The club will pay for registration fees and provide a stipend to off set expenses for travel and lodging.   You can bring your wife and have a good time with other members.  The club really should send at least one officer and one or two members to accompany him.

The dedication on Thursday Feb. 25th is at the University Hospital Speech and Hearing Center which is not in the Hospital.  It is at 1430 Harper St.  It is a dark red brick two story building.  You can get to Harper St.  from St. Sebastion St.

At long last, the John Schmidt Memorial Room at the University Hospital Speech and Hearing Center is ready for dedication,  The dedication ceremony will be Thursday Feb. 25th at 5:30 PM.  Friends, family and Sertoma Club members are invited to attend the ceremony.  There will be hors d'oeuvres and drinks, some speeches and news coverage.

1. Membership  Dues Billing:  Invoices have been sent out.  Money is coming in very slowly.  23 members owe some money for dues.  12 have not paid any dues.  $5,035.00 outstanding. Dennis Murphy will send out reminders again to all members who have not paid any dues.

2. By-Laws Update:  Dennis Murphy and Patrick Zier have produced working copies of the club Bylaws and Policy Statement.  Dennis got copy of Policy Statement Wednesday, waiting on Bylaws.  Electronic copies will be sent to all Board members within a few days.  The expectation is that board members will review them and provide comments before  ?? meeting.
3. Membership Drive Golf Outings – Ideas  for the future? – Golf Czar, Rex Goble?.

6. Casino Night status:

• Casino Night in Waynesboro 1/21.  Dealers lined up?

Casino night in Louisville on2/6.James Gay is lining up dealers.

**Large Casino Night on 2/20/16 Special plea next meeting?  Get wives involved?  Much discussion about how wo get dealers and what dress would be. Dennis, Patrick, James and Larry to meet and put together phone list to call dealers and to look into where dealers can get formal dress (bow ties, etc.).,

7.  Beer Wagon oro cooking  activity –Report discussion – additional future events.

Was decided to maintain tax license to be ready for any future similar events.  We will keep our eyes open for other opportunities.  David Hewett to contact John Felak.

The date for our big casino night at Aquinas High School is Feb. 20, 2016, NOT Feb. 22 as I mistakenly printed in the meeting notice for the Feb. 18th meeting

The sponsorship committee will meet at 6:15 and a board meeting will follow the general meeting.

Social Hour: 6:30

Dinner: at 7:30, or when the bell rings.  Menu:  Pulled Pork, BBQ Chicken, Mac & Cheese,  Baked Beans, Banana Pudding or Peach  Cobbler, Tea

NOTE:

This meeting will be sort of a special meeting in preparation for our up coming large Casino  night at Aquinas High School on Feb. 22.  We have invited  some of the volunteer dealers (wives and other special invitees) that are not regular Sertoma members.

We will be setting up some casino tables and doing some practice dealing for any rookie dealers for anyone who needs some practice.

We have a big menu and it should be lots of fun.  Be sure to be there.

Valentines Party is this Saturday, Feb. 13th at the Hut.  Social hour starts at 06:30 PM.  Bring your Valentine and come party with us.  Food, beverages and music plus a photo boothe that was quite entertaining last year.

There will be NO meeting this week (1st Thursday of the month).  The Hut is booked.

DON'T FORGET,  we are having our annual Valentines Day Party at the Hut on Feb. 13th.  Social Hour is 6:30 PM.  There will be liquid refreshments, heavy hors-d'oeuvres, music and a fun photo booth.

There will be a special meeting on Feb. 18.  Barbeque dinner and a Casino Night practice exercise for beginning dealers.  It will be a fun night.
