Attached are the minutes from the February 20 , 2025  North Augusta Sertoma club Board Meeting.  Board Members, please review them.  if you have comments or corrections, please contact Dennis Murphy.  If no comments or corrections, the minutes shall be approved as read here.

Old Business:

  •  By-Laws and Policy Statement have been revised. Copies of the revisions will be given to each Board Member for review soon. Murphy is working on it.
  • Need Volunteers to look into all the services that may be provided to us by Sertoma, Inc. and in particular the hearing aids that they provide clubs that we can give to area audiologists. Jason Ross has inquired of “Upper Savannah River Council on Aging” and will have a report ?? Dennis Murphy has contacted Bill Hixon.  We have had no responses. Will call again.
  • Wes summers has requested that the duties as Board Liaison be outlined and addressed in the By-Laws.
  • Board Decided to change wording on “Casino Night” contract. Change “Cost” to “Donation” David Hewett to contact Tom Murphy to ensure we have the correct verbiage on out contracts. Waiting on an appointment.
  • The Board passed a motion to obtain some “Sertoma” signs to be put on the doors to our meeting place. – Justin Howard. Working – Communigraphics.
  • The board discussed the possibility of getting more involved with speech and hearing within the school system. Status? Responsible person?
  • Collin Lindell of Aiken Co. Board Of Education. “Get More Visibility” Via Facebook and other media outlets.  He has been given access to our Facebook Account.  Status?

NEW BUSINESS

  • Formal Presentation of Grant to Piedmont Speech and Hearing next meeting. Murphy to call Dr. Garner.  We have the Big Check.
  • Justin Howard and Dennis Murphy will attend a meeting in Aiken on 2/24 with Aiken Sertoma and Sertoma Speech and Hearing of Florida regarding their establishing a chapter in SC.
  • Masters Party discussion – Old McDonalds or Lookaway Hall? Andrew Coleman to get back to Board with cost estimates.

 

SERTOMA CLUB NEWS ITEMS /Club Liaison Report

  • Hewett will meet with Fred Ilardi to provide a list of major donations for possible big check presentations. They will be speaking to the local newspapers about getting more of our donations, particularly scholarships in the news.
  • Fred Ilardi has the “Big Check”. Status of official presentations with press coverage pending. Wes Summers is our “Club Liaison” and Public Relations Rep.  He will be working with Fred Ilardi.
