Members of the North Augusta Sertoma Club present a $15,000 check to University Health Care Foundation, which is earmarked for projects through University’s Speech & Hearing department.

 

 

University Hospital Speech & Hearing receives $15,000 donation from Sertoma Club

Friday, April 26, 2013 (Augusta, GA) – University Hospital’s Speech & Hearing was the recipient of a $15,000 donation from the North Augusta Sertoma Club on Friday, April 26, during a breakfast held at the department’s offices.

Given by the club in honor of Better Speech and Hearing Month, the generous donation will be used to purchase two state-of-the-art automated portable newborn hearing devices, two ear-level probes used for automated auditory brainstem testing for babies in University’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and for professional education for the audiology staff of Speech & Hearing.

While at the Speech & Hearing offices, Sertoma members toured the facility and were given a demonstration of techniques used to evaluate newborn hearing.

“We appreciate the continued support from the North Augusta Sertoma Club that enables us to deliver program to our patients with speech, language and hearing disorders,” said Laurie Ott, president of University Health Care Foundation. “Thanks again to the North Augusta Sertoma Club for their continued help with these projects.”
